Answer: GCD(24,42) = 42

48 is one possibility for the third number.

Explanation:

Given two numbers out of 3 are 24 and 42.

Prime factorization of 24 and 42 is

24 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 3

42= 2 x 3 x 7

We can see the greatest common division (GCD) of 24 and 42 = 2 x 3 = 6

Now if third number is greater than 42 and does not change the GCF, the we take nearest possible number as 42 + GCD(24,42) = 42+6 = 48

Such that GCD (24,42,48)=6

So, 48 is one possibility for the third number.
