I'm not sure if y is supposed to be there or if there needs to be a 0 there. If we was to just find the value of x's then we can do the following.

Leave x by itself


0 = 9x^2 - 36\\0 + 36 = 9x^2 - 36 + 36\\36 = 9x^2

Divide both sides by 9


(36)/(9) = (9x^2)/(9)


4 = x^2

Square root both sides


√(4) = √(x^2)

±
2 = x

Answer:
x = ±
2
