Answer: The speed of the veneno is 220 miles per hour.

Explanation:

We have the relation:

distance = speed*time.

We can model this situation as:

The cars will pass eachother when the sum of their distances traveled in the given time, 4 hours, is equal to the initial separation between them, 1040 miles.

So we have:

Sv = speed of the veneno.

Sp = speed of the pinto.

Sv*4hours + Sp*4hours = 1040 miles.

Now, we know that:

Sv = Sp + 180mph.

We want to find the speed of the veneno, so we should write:

Sp = Sv - 180mph.

Then we can replace this in our equation as:

Sv*4h + Sp*4h = 1040mi

(Sv + Sp)4h = 1040mi

(Sv + (Sv - 180mph))*4h = 1040 mi

(2*Sv - 180mph)*4h = 1040mi

2*Sv*4h - 720mi = 1040mi

Sv*8h = 1040mi - 720mi = 1760mi

Sv = 1760mi/8h = 220 mi/h

The speed of the veneno is 220 miles per hour.
