Kennedy seemed to believe what he was saying, while Nixon was shifting his feet, taking deep breaths, and licking his lips during his speech. Their tones of voice also differed. Kennedy's voice was strong and confident; Nixon's voice was a bit shaky and nervous. Both speeches were well put together, but it all came down to nonverbal communication. It is extremely important, and it definitely helped Kennedy win.
