Militarism:

  • Military received more funding.
  • Help built planes and ships.
  • More funding helped to gain more colonies.

Alliances:

  • Central powers were surrounded by "triple entente".
  • Europe divided.

Nationalism:

  • Countries wanted to be independent.
  • Countries wanted to win which raised tensions.
  • Countries had an opposition against what they had desired previously.

Imperialism:

  • Countries competing for the same market rose tensions.
  • Countries were fighting for more land.
  • Military bases were created more often in colonized areas of the world.

Assassination:

  • Countries that had alliances declared war on each other.
  • Countries who had someone important assassinated became furious that other country and decalred war.

Best of Luck!
