So the rate of change is the slope of the line. The best way to find slope is through the slope formula which is y2-y1 divided by x2-x1.

First, lets find two coordinates to compare. Since your picture has two points already set, we can use them: (2,4) and (0,1)

Now, we can plug them into the formula I just mentioned.

(1-4)/(0-2) which simplifies to (-3/-2)

The negatives cancel out and you get 3/2 as your slope or rate of change. So for every 3 spaces you go up, you go 2 spaces right.

It is 3/2. That is the rate of change. To find you have to find the rise over run which is 3/2.
