q = -5

Explanation:

(q+1)/2=(q−1)/3

3(q+1) = 2(q−1)

3*q + 3*1 = 2*q + 2*-1

3q + 3 = 2q - 2

3q -2q = -2 - 3

q = -5

Check:

(-5+1)/2 = (-5-1)/3

-4/2 = -6/3 = -2
