Answer:

28.35

Explanation:

Let cost of 1 coat = c.

Let cost of 1 umbrella = u.

7c + 12u = 399.45;

3c + 25u = 503.80

Multiply both sides of the first equation by 25.

Multiply both sides of the second equation by 12.

175c + 300u = 9986.25

36c + 300u = 6045.6

Subtract the second equation from the first equation eliminating u. Then solve for c.

139c = 3940.65

c = 28.35

Answer: A coat costs $28.35.
