HELP!!!!!HELP!!!!When solving proportion based on data from graphs, why do you often convert from fractions and percents to decimals? URGENT!! PLEASE EXPLAIN IN DETAIL!!

When converting a factions and percentages to a decimal it will often make it easier for the problem to be solved so you do not have to simplify.

It'd be much harder to solve the problem "1/4 x 14" or "25% x 14" than just calculating "0.25 x 14". It'll also help you work on converting to different forms of numbers. Depending on the problem, you'll need to convert to a specific form, such as a problem that asks you to calculate the percent increase/decrease.
