In an atom, what is the number of profons equal
to?

The number of protons and electrons are equal.
Take Oxygen as an example; the atomic number is 8, so its atoms contain 8 protons and 8 electrons.
Uranium has the atomic number 92, so it's atoms contain 92 protons and 92 electrons.
