Shevonne and her sister, Kerrie, are saving money to buy their own

laptop computers. Shevonne has $215 and can save $35 each week. Kerrie
has $380 and can save $20 each week.
How many weeks will it take for the sisters to save the same amount of money?
How much will each sister have saved?
(please explain and write out equation!!!)

Answer:

Explanation:

Shevonne Savings = Initial amount + savings for x week

= 215 + 35x

Kerrie savings = 380 + 20x

Both sisters save same after 'x' weeks

215 + 35x = 380 + 20x

Subtract 20x from both sides

215 + 35x - 20x = 380

215 + 15x = 380

Subtract 215 from both sides

15x = 380 - 215

15x = 165

Divide both sides by 15

x = 165/15

x = 11

Kerrie's savings = 380 + 20*11 = 380 + 220 = $600

Shevonne's savings = $ 600
