(x+1)²=-1

Explanation:

x²-7x=-9x-2

x²+2x+2=0

If you solved this using the quadratic formula, you’d end up with -1+i and -1-i.

but if you subtracted 1 from both sides, you’d have

x²+2x+1=-1

Which is:

(x+1)²=-1
