Answer:

Using the quadratic formula:

x = [--44 +- sqr rt (-44^2 -4*24*12)] / 4*12

x = [44 +- sqr rt (1,936 -1,152)] / 48

x = [44 +- SQR RT (784)] / 48

x = (44 +- 28) / 48

x1 = 72 / 48 = 1.5

x2 = 16 / 48 = 1 / 3 = .3333333333...
