Width = 14ft Length = 20ft

Explanation:

Area (A) of rug (having rectangular shape) = L× W A =
280ft^(2)

but Length is 6ft more than width, this means L = (6 + W)ft

∴ 280 = (6+W)×W

280 = 6W +
W^(2)

solving the equation as a quadratic equation;
W^(2) + 6W - 280 = 0

(W - 14) (W + 20) = 0

W = 14 or W = -20 but W ≠ negative

∴ Width (W) = 14ft

Length = 6 + 14

= 20ft
