At a greengrocer,two bananas and one apple cost £1.16

and one apple and one banana cost £0.71
how much does one apple cost

Answer:

let cost of one banana be x and cost of one apple be y.

so, 2x+y=1.16 --> a

x + y = 0.71 -->b

now subtracting b from a , we get the result as,

x = 0.45

so , y will be 0.71 - 0.45= 0.26 (from b)

so, cost of one apple will be (i.e y) = £0.26
