- You could interview someone that witnessed an important historical event for the state, or that has lived there for a long time
- You could search for other types of documents such as journal entries that although may not give the most accurate information, tend to be very honest.
my advice:
I had to do a similar project once and if you end up needing to actually use any of these, I recommend interviewing someone you know about their day-to-day life in that state, or any important events they witnessed because it's more useful than one might think, and turns out to be pretty fun.
