1) get rid of the parenthesis by distributing the 2. You will get 8x-6-8=4+2x

2) Now combine like term on each side of the equal sign. You will get 8x-14=4+2x

3) Move the 14 to the right side of the equation making it +14 and move your 2x to the left side of the equation making it -2x. You will get 8x-2x=4=+14

4) calculate each side. You will get 6x=18

5) Divide both sides. You will get x=3
