The 2 triangles are similar by the AA postulate, thus the ratios of corresponding sides are equal, that is


(x)/(24) =
(12)/(18) =
(2)/(3) ( cross- multiply )

3x = 48 ( divide both sides by 3 )

x = 16

(y)/(6) =
(18)/(12) =
(3)/(2) ( cross- multiply )

2y = 18 ( divide both sides by 2 )

y = 9
