K=Kilo, H=Hecto, D=Deca, U=Unit (meters, liter, grams), D=Deci, C=Centi, M=Milli.

SO between meters (which is the U) and kilometers (which is the K), there's 3 letters so kilometers is 1000 times greater than meters. SO 3.5*1000=3500.
