Jasmine reduced the size of a triangle to a height of 4 in. What is the new width if it was originally 12 in wide and 16 in tall?​

The new width is 3 in.

Explanation:

We can use the ratio of w/h, the origal width and height should have the same ratio as the new width and height.

12 = x

16 4

Then solve for x:

x = 4 (12/16)

x = 3

To check:

12/16 = 3/4

3/4 = 3/4
