Answer:

  1. The Poor
  2. South Carolina

Step-by-step explanation:

James Oglethorpe was a former army officer in the British Army who devoted his time to the poor people of Britain. He wanted to establish Georgia as a place where the poor can have chance to start over and this they did when Parliament gave them funding.

Another reason for the establishment of Georgia was to create a buffer area and hence a defence for the colony of South Carolina which was very wealthy and prosperous but was surrounded by the Spanish, French and the Indians.
