The colonists we upset that laws were being decided on in England for the colonies but they didn't have a voice in what was going on. The king increased the taxes on the things the colonists wanted the most, stamps, paper, and tea. This led to the boston tea party which was a warning for the king to life the large taxes. but he didn't. Which then led to the war. In conclusion, taxes were beinng raised on the colonists nessesities, so they would come back to the king and leave the New World.
