A United States senator from Maine wants to find out the opinion of Maine voters on issues concerning education. The office of the senator sends out a survey to state residents who have contacted the senator in the past year. Is this sampling method random? Explain

It may seem random, but it's heavily biased toward those who participate in politics. It leaves out people who have not contacted the senator. A better method would be to look at voter registration data, and send out surveys to random people on the list.
