to solve for A you would need to isolate it(get it by itself) and to do this you would subtract B from both sides
A + B = C
- B - B
——————-
A = C - B
the answer would be A = C - B

A = C-B
Explanation:
A+B=C
Subtract B from each side
A+B-B=C-B
A = C-B
