Answer:

The land not made up of farmland = 5 million acres

Explanation:

Number of farms in Nebraska = 48000

Total acres of land used by Nebraska = 45 million acres

Total of the state covered =
(9)/(10) of the state

To find:

How many acres are not made up of farmland ?

Solution:

Given that
(9)/(10) of the state is covered by the farmland.

Total area in farmland = 45 million acres

It means that, Rest of the land is not made up of farmland.

First of all, let us calculate the total land of Nebraska then we will subtract the farmland from total, to find the land not made up of farmland.

That will be our answer.

Let the total land be =
x million acres.

As per the question statement:

(9)/(10)\ of\ x = 45\ million\ acres

OR

(9)/(10)* x =45\\\Rightarrow x = (45* 10)/(9)\\\Rightarrow x = 50\ million\ acres

Therefore, the land not made up of farmland =
x - 45 = 50 -45

5 million acres
