Answer:

x = 4

y = 3

Explanation:

2x - 3y = - 1 ………… Equation 1

y = x - 1 ….……….… Equation 2

To solve using substitution , substitute equation 2 into equation 1

That's

2x - 3( x - 1) = - 1

2x - 3x + 3 = - 1

- x = - 1 - 3

- x = - 4

Multiply through by - 1

We have

x = 4

Substitute x = 4 , into y = x - 1

We have

y = 4 - 1

y = 3

We have the answers as

x = 4

y = 3
