HELP! The length of a rectangle is 4 meters less than twice it's width. If the area of the rectangle is 96 inches what is the width?

8cm

Explanation:

1. x = width

length = 2x - 4

(2x - 4)x = 96

2x ^ 2 - 4x - 96 = 0

x ^ 2 - 2x - 48 = 0

(x + 6)(x - 8) = 0

Since the width cannot be negative, the width would be 8cm.
