Describe how cohesion and adhesion contribute to the upward movement of water through a plant.

Answer:

Cohesive forces makes molecules stick to become a mass. This force ensures that the water molecules stick together to form a mass. This enables water to fill the xylem which is a vascular bundle in plants.

Adhesion forces is what enables the water molecules which are now in form of a single mass to move upward in the columns of the cells for distribution of water and nutrients.
