I have a rectangular garden. I usually grow

carrots in 2/5 of my garden but I want to
take 1/4 of the carrots section to grow
strawberries. After I make this change, how
much of my whole garden will be
strawberries?

Answer:

(1)/(10)

Explanation:

If you originally have
(2)/(5) of your garden reserved for carrots, are taking
(1)/(4) of the carrot space (
(2)/(5) ) for strawberries, then the total amount of your garden left for strawberries will be
(2)/(5)\cdot(1)/(4)

(2)/(5)\cdot(1)/(4) = (2)/(20)

(2)/(20) simplifies down to
(1)/(10).

Hope this helped!
