(44/50) × 100% simplifies to (using a common factor of 2) (22/25) × 100% (2 goes into 44 twenty-two times, and into 50 twenty-five times). 100 and 25 share a common factor of 25, so this fraction can further be simplified to (22/1) × 4% (25 goes into itself once, and into 100 four times). 22/1 is the same as 22. 22 × 4% = 88%. And that's your answer.
