y= mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y intercept

We know the slope is 8 and the x intercept is 5 ( 5,0)

y = 8x +b

Substitute the point into the equation

0 = 8(5)+b

0 = 40+b

b=-40

The equation is

y = 8x-40
