Explanation:

Given a rectangle TREC, with RC and ET being the diagonal both intersecting at the middle, then the following are true;

Let O be the point of intersection of RC and ET;

RO+OC = RC

Given the distance from point R to the middle as 2 x - 3, then RO = 2x-3 and if the distance from the middle point to point C is x + 7, then OC = x+7

Since they intersect in the middle, RO = OC

2x-3 = x+7

Collect like terms

2x-x = 7+3

x = 10

RO = 2x-3

RO = 2(10)-3

RO = 17

since RO = OC, then OC = 17units

Note that both diagonal RC and ET inyetsect at the middle O hence diagonal RC = ET = RO+OC

RC = ET = 17+17

RC = ET = 34units

Hence the length of ET is 34 units
