Lapis lazuli was used by ancient Egyptians as a cosmetic, grinding the stone down into a blue power and used as an eye shadow. Ancient Egyptians also believed the stone had many healing properties. They had an abundance of lapis and would use it for sculptures and jewelry such as amulets.
