What is the solution to this system of equations using the linear combination method?

4x + y = 5
3x + y = 8

(-3, 17)

Explanation:

You will use minus sign for the equation in other to eliminate one of the letters and use the other one to find the one eliminated later...Which means that 4x+y=5 (-) 3x+y=8..... the minus sign will eliminate +y and +y in each equation because the "+y" in the second equation will be turned to -y because + times(×) - will give us minus sign so the "y" will be eliminated to give space for the 'x" .After the x has been found which is x=-3 then you will substitute x=-3 into the any equation and then you will also find the "y" which is y=17.....Thank you
