How should the US respond to the Japanese joining the other axis powers?

Step-by-step explanation:

The US wasn't at war with any Axis power Japan when they joined the Axis powers. All the US was doing was supplying which allowed the US to gain alot of money just coming out of the great depression. The only thing the US should worry about if Hawaii or Alaska. The US should respond with sanctions and not supply or support japanese products just like we are doing with Russia at this moment in time.
