Move 2a to left hand side and change it's sign

Similarly, move 10 to right hand side and change it's sign


\sf{4a - 2a =26 - 10}

Collect like terms


\sf{2a = 26 - 10}

Subtract 10 from 26


\sf{2a = 16}

Divide both sides of the equation by 2


\sf{ (2a)/(2) = (16)/(2) }

Calculate


\sf{a = 8}
