The temperature of a town at 3:00 p.m. was

41 °C. The temperature recorded at 9:00 p.m.
was 29 °C. Find the fall in temperature per
hour, if the temperature falls at a constant rate
per hour.​

Answer:

Explanation:

3 PM => 41°

9 PM => 29°

Find the temperature fall rate.

First, there are 6 hours between 3 and 9, and the temperature decreased 41 - 29 = 12° in those 6 hours. To find the rate, simply divide the degrees difference by the number of hours => 12/6 = 2° per hour; and since it's a descending rate, you put a negative ( -2°).
