Answer: Agriculture

Step-by-step explanation:

The Tigris and Euphrates rivers have for millennia been very important to the people who lived in the region. The rivers blessed the inhabitants such that they were one of the first civilizations in the world resulting from strides made in agriculture that encouraged population growth and settlement.

Like the Nile does in Egypt, the Tigris and Euphrates bring fertile soil and water for irrigation to the land around them which was then and still is now being used for various agricultural ventures such as;

  • Pastoral farming - the marshes and vegetation around the river provide fertile plants for animals to graze on
  • Arable farming - water and fertile soil around the river encourage cultivation and farming
  • Forestry - presence of same fertile soil and water has led to emergence of forests around the river.
