A physical changes the physical properties of a substance, but not the chemical composition. If it changed the chemical composition, it would be a chemical change. Typically a physical change can be reversible. Therefore, some typical examples of a physical change are:
- melting
- transition to a gas
- textural change
- change in shape
- change in size
