HELP!

You are going to build a new garage similar to the rectangular one you currently have. The current dimensions are 30 feet wide by 12 feet long. You need to stake and rope off where the concrete will be poured. If the new garage is going to have a width of 35 feet, how much rope are you going to need?

Answer:

98 feet

Explanation:

If it is similar that means the side lengths are scaled by a scale factor.

The original garage is 30 feet wide, this one is 35 feet. To find the scale factor, 35 / 30 = 1
(1)/(6). Multiply 12 by the scale factor and you get 14 feet as the length. To find the amount of rope to rope off the area, you find the perimeter. Perimter is 2 * length + 2 * width.

14 * 2 + 35 * 2 = 98
