in a mixed shape, we can take a trapezium and a triangle. trapezium's base 1= 9cm and base 2= 8cm whereas, the base of the triangle is 5cm and height is 7 cm. Find the area

to find the area of the mixed shape, we'll have to add the area of the trapezium and the triangle.

therefore,

area \: of \: trapezium = 136 \: {cm}^(2)

area \: of \: triangle = 17.5 \: {cm}^(2)

area of the mixed shape,

136 \: cm+ 17.5 \: cm

= 153.5 \: {cm}^(2)

given:

trapezium

triangle

to find:

the area of the give shape.

solution:

Trapezium:

a = (a + b)/(2) h

a = (8 + 9)/(2) * 16

a = 136 \: {cm}^(2)

Triangle:

a = (1)/(2) bh

a = (1)/(2) * 5 * 7

a = 17.5 \: {cm}^(2)

area of the shape:

136 + 17.5

a = 153.5 \: {cm}^(2)
