(3)^(2) = 3 × 3 = 9


(-3)^(2) = -3 × -3 = 9

Also,


(4)^(2) = 4 × 4 = 16


(-4)^(2) = -4 × -4 = 16

Therefore, the square of an integer creates a positive integer.
