It’s important because you could need this information to know specific locations of important places or important things. You might need this info if you become a scientist, geologist, and many other things.

When you are in danger in unknown territory, for example you’re flying a plane and you don’t know where you are doing and get lost. The flight controller may be able to find your location and save you.
