(13)/((x + 2)) = (8)/((x - 1))

By cross - multiplication

$\implies13 * (x - 1) = 8 * (x + 2)$

$\implies13x - 13 = 8x + 16$

$\implies13x - 8x = 16 + 13$

$\implies5x = 29$

$\implies \: x = (29)/(5)$

$\implies \: x = 5.8$
