What is a exponent and how would I solve something with one?

Answer: Hi!

An exponent is is a number that represents how many times a number is being multiplied by itself. It is shown as either a small number positioned on the top tight of a term or the symbol ^ between the term and the exponent. For example, if you had 4 to the power of 2, you would multiply 4 by itself 2 times. 4 * 4 is equal to 16.
