Answer:

9 p.m.

Explanation:

Given:

  • Start time = 5 p.m.
  • Henry made = 60 cranes
  • Gordon made = 20 cranes
  • Henry's speed = 30 cranes/h
  • Gordon's speed = 40 cranes/h

To find:

  • The time Henry and Gordon make same number of cranes

Solution

Let the required time = x

For Henry:

  • 60 + 30x

For Gordon:

  • 20 + 40x

Since they require the same time and same number, we have:

  • 60 + 30x = 20 + 40x
  • 40x - 30x = 60 - 20
  • 10x= 40
  • x= 40/10
  • x= 4 hours

The start time was 5 p.m., we need to add 4 hours to this to get 9 p.m.

Answer: At 9 p.m. they will get the same number of cranes
