What is the topic sentence of this story My most vivid memory from childhood is traveling to the top of the Zugspitze mountain in Germany. The day we went up the Zugspitze is the day that I learned that there can be a surprising difference in temperature between the ground and the top of a mountain. It was warm on the ground that day, but it got colder and colder the higher up the mountain that we went. On the ground everything was green, but the mountaintop was covered with snow. When it was time to go back down the mountain we rode in a cable car. I remember thinking at the time that it was as though we had travelled down from winter back into spring.

Answer:

The first sentence:

My most vivid memory from childhood is traveling to the top of the Zugspitze mountain in Germany.

Step-by-step explanation:

Simply put, the topic sentence of a paragraph is always going to be [SHOULD always be] the first one. The purpose of it is to present the theme (subject), which in this case is your memory of traveling to the top of some mountain. Everything else in the paragraph should be supporting information that elaborates specifically on that experience.
