A 15 foot ladder is leaning against a wall. The foot of the ladder is 7 feet from the wall. How high up the wall is the ladder? Round to the nearest tenth if necessary.

Explanation:

The computation of the height should be computed by using the Pythagoras theorem

As we know that

Hypothenuse^2 = base^2 + height^2

where,

Hypothenuse is 15 foot

And, the foot of the ladder i.e base is 7

So now placing these values

The height is

15^2 = 7^2 + height^2

225= 49 + height^2

After solving this, the height is 13.26
