DISTRIBUTION OF POWER IN MY FAMILY
In my family, we have a tightly knit unit made up of a father, mother, and five children. My father is the head of the family and he is the leader of the pack. He adjudicates on issues between other family members, he acts as the provider of the unit. We depend on him for everything, including financial, emotional, and physical security.
My mother is like the second-in-command or assistant as she settles issues when my father is unavailable. She is in charge of things such as meals, bathing us when we were younger, giving of advice, and scolding when the situation demands it.
The first child of our family is the automatic leader when mother or father are unavailable. Sometimes when they want to leave, they officially give her charge to take care of us, the younger ones. She is another person we look up to.
As for the remaining four children, we have no special role except to follow the lead and guidance of our father, mother and elder sister.
