(2x+1)(x-3)

y(x-3) .... let y = 2x+1

y*x+y(-3) .... distribute

xy - 3y

x( y ) - 3( y )

x( 2x+1 ) - 3( 2x+1) ... replace y with 2x+1

2x^2 + x - 6x - 3 ..... distribute

2x^2 - 5x - 3

Answer is choice A
